Suman, the daughter of the Raja Saheb was shocked beyond words when she received a telegram announcing her father's sudden death. Her friend Amrit suspected a secret hand behind this mysterious death. And so along with his comrade, Balam, Amirt took a job in the Raja Saheb's household to unearth the mystery and to protect Suman from any dangers. Suman's uncle Jaspal Singh claimed the entre property on the strength of a will which Amrit and Suman had reasons to suspect. This suspicion about the genuineness of the will was confirmed by the peculiar behaviour of the Raja Saheb's dog Tommy who seemed to know much but the poor dumb creature was unable to speak out what he knew.

The dog knew the identity of the mysterious shadow that prowled through the night. He also knew who killed the Raja Saheb and how.

Jaspal wanted to get rid of Suman and so he planned to marry her off to Sunder, the brother of his beloved Roopa. But Suman and Amrit came to know of this in time. Just then Tommy discovered the original will. Amrit called in the Police but Jaspal snatched the will and ran off....Did Jaspal succeed in his evil designs? How did the love of Amrit and Suman prosper? Did Tommy succeed in getting the murderer arrested?

All these questions are dramatically answered in Manmohan Sabir's sensational film "LUCKY NUMBER".
